Troubleshooting Trailforks

Ridelogs and Badges

To troubleshoot your badge awarding on a ridelog perform the following steps. Badges may not be awarded for a number of reasons, but if you follow these steps you will increase your odds of not having to re-ride the course. You can follow the instructions below, or just watch this handy video:

1. Check the trails you rode

Check your ridelog and the Badge you attempted, see if the trails required for the badge match the ones on your ride. If there are trails missing, go to step #2. If all the trails are there, go to step #4.

Your Ridelog tracks each Trail Trailforks recognizes that you rode. In the red box, you can see there are 6 trails ridden in this ridelog.

This is the Badge as displayed in the browser, you can see there are a number of required trails listed. If your ridelog doesn’t have these trails, you will not be awarded the badge.

2. Check the GPS track of the ridelog

If there are any sections missing, you should go re-ride the trail. We suggest using Strava to record rides, checkout this FAQ for instructions on how to set it up. If no sections are missing, go to step #3.

Your ridelog also has a GPS track for the whole ride. If you have a long straight line that misses a section of trail or an entire trail, you will not be able to troubleshoot anymore; you must re-ride the route!

Mod Links

The next portion of the troubleshooter requires you utilize the Mod Links on your ridelog. To find the Mod Links: Go to your ridelog in a browser (Not the Trailforks App), scroll all the way to the bottom and find the “Mod Links” section.

3. Recalculate Stats & Trail Identification

Go to your ridelog in a browser (Not the Trailforks App), scroll all the way to the bottom and find the “Mod Links” section, click “Recalculate Stats & Trail Identification”. Once complete, verify that the trails in the ridelog match the ones required for the badge. If they don’t, go re-ride the trail. If they do match, move to step 4.

4. Rescan for Badges

Go to your ridelog in a browser (Not the Trailforks App), scroll all the way to the bottom and find the “Mod Links” section, click “Rescan for Badges”. If the badge is awarded, great! If the badge is not awarded, go back to step #2.

5. Resync from Strava

If you are using the Strava-Trailforks integration, you can also resync the ridelog entirely from Strava. Go to your ridelog in a browser (Not the Trailforks App), scroll all the way to the bottom and find the “Mod Links” section, click “Resync from Strava”. From here, go back to Step #2.

SWMMBA Admins cannot do these steps for you. Trailforks SysAdmins may be able to perform this, however, it is unlikely they will be able to do so without a significant delay. They will also likely ask you to walk through the steps above first anyway.

If you are still unable to achieve the badge and have performed all of the steps above,

go ride the route again!

We highly recommend using the Strava tracking app and integration with Trailforks. Strava is an app built for tracking, Trailforks is an app built for navigation. Use each for the best of both worlds!
