Southwest Singletrack: Mountain Biking News & Notes

And the winner is… SWMMBA

SWMMBA is the Gallatin Valley Land Trust’s Trail Partner of the Year for 2018! Last week, at GVLT’s annual Trail Mix fundraiser, the land trust’s executive director Penelope Pierce recognized SWMMBA as an invaluable trail partner for our contribution to the Painted Hills Gap connector and maintenance at Highland Glen. We’re proud and honored to receive the award, and would like to extend another thank you to all our awesome volunteers, and the donors that make our work possible. More trail-work opportunities are right around the corner, starting early this spring. There will be chances to get your hands dirty in town and across the region, so stay tuned to our events calendar and Facebook page for updates.

Filmed By Bike at the Emerson

We’ve all been inspired by the beauty and struggle of the trail. For a lot of us, it’s why we ride. Now, it’s time to celebrate that adventure with the latest installment of the Filmed By Bike Film Festival. We’re hosting a screening March 22 at the Emerson, and you’re invited. There will be a series of adventure-biking films, gear giveaways, raffle prizes, and more, including a presentation on the at-risk trails in the Lionhead and next steps at Copper City. We hope you can join us!

Copper City Phase 3

Before you know it, we’ll be riding at Copper City again, if you haven’t been braving the snow drifts on your fatbike all winter. As soon as we’re able, we’ll be hard at work finishing trail construction, developing trailhead amenities, and implementing informational kiosks. Just as we couldn’t have built almost 20 miles of trail without your support, we can’t finish the job without it either. To get the job done, we’ll be throwing another spring fundraiser at Map Brewing, Ales for Trails 3.0. Details are forthcoming, but expect more great raffle prizes, delicious beer, and good company. If you can’t make the party, give to the effort here.
